RKM Turnings is operated by Russell K. Miller of Wichita, KS. Russ is a career educator who started out as a vocal music teacher in the Wichita Public Schools following his degree completion at Friends University. After several years of teaching music in a Jr. High School, Russ completed his masters degree in Education Administration and Supervision at Wichita State University and made the transition to being a school administrator, spending 20 years leading several different schools in the district.
Following the completion of a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Wichita State University, Russ spent three years leading the Grants & Development Department for the Wichita Public Schools, and after 28 years in the district decided to look for new opportunities in district level administration. Russ currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent for Human & Fiscal Services for the Newton Public Schools of Newton, KS.
Outside of work, Russ enjoys spending time with his wife of 30+ years, his two kids and their spouses, and now two granddaughters that he plans to spoil as rotten as possible! Wood turning is a hobby that provides a bit of stress relief from busy work weeks, and thus is known around these parts as "lathe therapy!" We hope you enjoy our little store, and perhaps will find something that will make a perfect gift for someone in your world. Russ keeps prices as low as possible, as the main goal is not providing a living but only having a few bucks to spend on a hobby he loves. Thanks for dropping by!
